| Polymer Technologies Day is a Success |

Polymer Training Limited (PTL) played host to a polymer technologies in science and design technology day organised through Shropshire Education Business Partnership aimed at teachers across the West Midlands area. Based in Telford, PTL’s world renowned Technical Centre provided an excellent backdrop for education to meet industry. Teachers were able to see various polymer processing equipment as well as to gain an insight into this growing innovative sector. The event attracted speakers from Cogent, the polymer industry Sector Skills Council, The Royal Academy of Engineering, the Engineering Employer Federation, the Polymer Cluster, Polymer Laboratories, along with education and schools input from the Telford & Wrekin’s Teaching & Learning Consultant (Science), and the Science Learning Centre based at Keele University. Angela Faulkner from St Edmund Campion RC School noted that the day had included “Good resources provided – including a polymer careers DVD” as well as “Good speakers who provided a clear idea of the polymer industry and a variety of careers available in the sector”. “It is important that we raise awareness of the plastics industry within our schools to satisfy the growing demand for product designers, engineers, chemists and business managers of the future” said Steve Harratt, Business Development Manager at Polymer Training. “Polymer science and engineering offers many rewarding careers for those of a logical and diagnostic mind set”.
