Polymer Sector Developments (PSD), the employer group formed to oversee the provision of new Vocational/Educational Technology Advancement Sectors for the polymer sector in the East Midlands, has signed an exclusive agreement with Polymer Training Ltd (PTL) whereby PTL will take on the management and sale of PSD on-line learning products. The PSD suite of e-learning courses was devised to enable companies throughout the UK to access cost-effective on-line training for employees. Three programmes – for extrusion, Extrusion Profile, and for composites, Resin Infusion and Wet Lay-Up – have recently completed a successful four month pilot and a further seven courses are now in development, covering sign making, blow moulding and composites. PTL will take on responsibility for the marketing of the programmes to individuals and organisations throughout the UK as well as monitoring the performance of suppliers and tutors. The company will also liaise with international partners to investigate the further development of E-learning outside the UK. In addition, PTL and PSD plan to co-operate in the introduction of further learning products for the polymer and related industries.
“We are delighted with the licence agreement with PTL,” comments Peter Tipton of PSD. “We see E learning as a vital part of the future of training in our industry and, as such, it is very important that companies making use of our products are able to work with an organisation that understands their specific requirements.
“In PTL and its Chief Executive Raymond Clarke, we have a partner with a broad understanding of polymers and the companies that make up the industry. PTL is therefore ideally placed both to maximise the opportunities for our E learning programmes and ensure users derive full benefit from them.
“The directors of PSD look forward to working with PTL in helping to meet the needs of employers and employees in the polymer industries.”
