Aim of the course:

Designed for Supervisors and Managers who need to manage safely, this course covers the topics necessary to manage safely in compliance with Health and Safety legislation. The course also involves a short in-company project, using the skills learnt throughout the programme.

Who should attend:

Managers, Supervisors, Safety Executives and Safety Committee Members who have any Health and Safety responsibilities at work.

Objectives of the course:

  • Delegates will gain understanding of management principles in relation to Health and Safety issues
  • The legal requirements placed on employers, employees and contractors will be determined

Programme - topics covered:

  • Understanding why incidents involving injury or damage occur
  • Applying management principles to Safety and Health
  • Behavioural factors affecting Safety and Health performance
  • Legal framework for Safety and Health at Work
  • Communication skills in relation to Safety and Health
  • Nature of common hazards, noise, machinery, manual and mechanical handling etc
  • Specialised hazards

Duration:

4 days (examination taken on last day) 9.30am - 4.30pm

Qualification:

On successful completion of the course, exam and in-company project, the delegates will receive a certificate issued by IOSH, which is a foundation qualification.
