Injection Moulding Level 1 (Hethel Engineering) Norwich Print E-mail

Pre-requisites:

There are no candidate restrictions that apply to attendance on this course programme.

Aim of the course:

This course is designed to provide candidates, who have no prior knowledge or understanding of the injection moulding process, with firm foundations on which to progress their career. Aligned to an NVQ Level 1 standard of performance, the course is a blend of theoretical instruction and workshop practical sessions, to provide a good understanding of the injection moulding process and associated working practices.

Who should attend:

The course has been designed specifically to suit the needs of recently appointed injection moulding machine operators to ensure they do not endanger themselves or their colleagues, or cause damage to any manufacturing equipment.

Objectives of the course:

On completion of the course the delegates will be able to:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of the injection moulding process and the equipment used
  • List major UK legislation and polices required for effective Health & Safety
  • Communicate effectively with other internal staff, using appropriate terminology
  • State the requirements for effective mould safety and be able to conduct a check procedure
  • Demonstrate a full safety guard check procedure and complete appropriate documentation
  • Conduct machine purging and start-up for production in a safe and logical manner
  • Recognise a range of common moulding faults
  • Shut down a production machine in a safe and efficient manner
  • Ensure that the work area remains a safe and tidy environment for handover

Individual candidate knowledge levels are assessed at the end of the course attendance, after which a management report is provided to help identify any further training requirements.

1 day (9.00am – 4.30pm)

Qualification:

PTL/Hethel Eng. Polymer Processing Certificate Level 1

Material covered has been aligned to the content of the Injection Moulding NVQ standard at Level 1 and can be used as underpinning knowledge towards achieving the award, if so desired.
