Cycle Time Analysis & Machine Capability Study

The Cycle Time Analysis part of this downloadable document provides you with an opportunity to compare previous or standard cycle times against the optimised cycle time in order that savings being made in both time and money can be quantified. The document will also provide information on machine utilisation rates using this information.

Although optimisation of cycle time is the main focus for this exercise, the Machine Capability part of the document will analyse any variation present within the existing machine set-up. Further data analysis using CMk values would provide an indication as to how close the process has been targeted to the specified nominal value whether it be a weight or given dimension.

Care must be taken not to compromise the part quality or machine capability in any attempts to reduce production cycle times. Higher scrap rates will always offset the effects of any production cost savings if product quality is not maintained.
