Polymer Training’s Polymer Industry Competence Assessment Tool (PICAT) is the established leader in the field of "virtual reality" simulation for our industry. Using high quality graphics, coupled with a powerful mathematical "engine," PICAT simulates a typical processing line and challenges the user to overcome a wide range of typical product faults.

Like a video game, users are soon drawn into another world where the desire to "win" (solve all faults and achieve specification in the shortest possible time) drives each one forward. Unlike other "games," however, the "player’s” actions (and their results) are recorded by the computer so that analysis of performance can be made by the trainer/supervisor.

Gaps in understanding are quickly identified allowing a targeted training programme to be developed - PICAT can also be used to meet this need.

"I have recently attended the Product Design with Plastics course at PTL, which was of an exceptional standard. As a Industrial Designer I felt the course was highly intensive, covering a broad topic area including polymer selection, design for manufacture and mould design. The training staff were both friendly and knowledgeable" Gethin Roberts - The National Centre for Product Design & Development Research (PDR)
