Injection Moulding Advanced Processing Technology Print E-mail

Pre-requisites:

Candidates must posses existing high levels of skill and knowledge, either by having been awarded an NVQ Level 3 in processing, or having passed PTL’s Injection Moulding Technology Part 3 end of course assessment or by scoring a mark of 90% or above in our pre-course questionnaire.

Aim of the Course:

To provide delegates with an in-depth knowledge of the Injection Moulding process in order to fully troubleshoot product faults and optimise machine processing conditions and hence improve manufacturing efficiency levels through cycle time and machine down time reductions.

Who should attend:

Specifically designed for highly competent technical staff involved in the injection moulding process who now wish to undertake further processing optimisation, product troubleshooting and lost time reduction projects. In particular: Manufacturing and Process Engineers, Processing Technicians, Efficiency Improvement Co-ordinators.

Objectives of the Course:

On completion of the course the delegates will be able to:

  • State the name of a variety of moulding faults
  • Understand faults and their causes
  • Implement suitable remedies for these faults
  • Introduce machine variables to maximise product quality
  • Understand the rheology of polymer materials as they flow
  • Have knowledge of advanced manufacturing processes
  • Evaluate tool change activities to identify potential savings
  • Conduct machine down time reduction exercises

Candidate assessment will be undertaken during each of the three distinct phases of productivity improvement (troubleshooting, advanced processing and SMED), using a variety of mechanisms. The feedback management report, showing individual results, will be returned to the candidate’s company representative to assist in the identification of any further training needs or potential career opportunities within the company.

Duration:

4 days for the Advanced Processing Technology. (Monday to Thursday 9.00 – 4.30 pm)
1 day for the optional SMED for Injection Moulding (Friday 9.00 – 4.00 pm)

Qualifications:

Advanced Processing Certificate and/or SMED for Injection Moulding Certificate

Material covered has been aligned to the content of an NVQ at Level 3 and can be used as underpinning knowledge towards achieving the award.

"In the world of Manufacturing, we must constantly adapt and progress to remain competitive. To enable us to do this, we need the help and support of people we know and trust. PTL have assisted us with our training for many years, helping our Technical Team to gain their C&G qualifications and supporting us in setting up NVQ's and gaining centre approval. We hope to continue this successful partnership well into the future." Patsy Gilthorpe
