The National Training Organisation for the Polymer Industry believes that an essential element contributing to the future successful performance of the industry, is the competence of the sector workforce.

Since its inception in October 1995, the Modern Apprenticeship scheme has been instrumental in bringing capable young people into the polymer industry.

Apprenticeships...

  • Have been developed after consultation with industry
  • Give employers a firm contract with an apprentice
  • Provide structured training, with defined development targets
  • Ensure training takes place alongside apprentice's job
  • Provide employees who have been formally trained to suit the specific needs of the company
The Employer:
  • Provides employment and training for the apprentice

  • Assists the apprentice in developing his/her programme

  • Nominates a mentor for the apprentice

Polymer Training:

  • Provides trainee support

  • Co-ordinates assessment and verification of achievements

  • Provides technical training

  • Manages each programme from induction to certification
