Manual Handling Print E-mail

Pre-requisites:

There are no candidate restrictions that apply to attendance on this course programme.

Aim of the course:

This course is designed to provide candidates who have little or no prior knowledge or understanding of the legal requirements associated with this practice with underpinning knowledge of the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992. Mainly theoretical in its delivery but designed to be interactive and match the learning requirements for a range of skill levels.

Who should attend:

The course has been designed specifically to suit the needs of all staff involved in conducting Manual Handling assessments or who need an understanding of the assessment process and methods used. It is also suitable to those staff involved in any lifting activities so as they do not endanger themselves, or leave the company vulnerable to future litigation and compensation claims.

Objectives of the course:

On completion of the course the delegates will be able to:

  • State at least two of the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992
  • Define what is meant by an injury of the vertebra
  • Conduct a full manual handling assessment
  • Understand how injuries can be caused
  • Explain what is meant by anthropometric data
  • Demonstrate the kinetic lift
  • Explain the term “ergonomics”

Individual candidate knowledge levels are assessed at the end of the course using a short multiple choice questionnaire, after which a results and feedback report is provided to help identify any further training requirements.

"The PTL Courses have been extremely valuable to Symphony, and we wish to run them on a regular basis. The in-house courses have been especially valuable, we operate in 40 countries and have a wide spectrum of distributors and agents. They come from different backgrounds and industry disciplines. Therefore the PTL courses have been an essential tool in providing education and backup for these people. Now we can be sure all our international colleagues are 'singing from the same hymn sheet'.

The courses for both existing and prospective customers have been equally effective. Using PTL has given a sense of credibility that a corporate exercise could not match. The events have been so  successful that a number of retailers have requested specialised 'me-only' courses for their staff members. The facilities, credibility and quality of presenters at the PTL courses are exemplary and prove a valuable educational, morale booster and sales tool for our company".
