INTRODUCTORY CERTIFICATE IN TEAM LEADING (Level 2)

 Facts:

  • only 37% of people say they have a clear understanding of what their organisation is trying to achieve and why
  • only 1 in 5 are enthusiastic about their team's and organisation's goals
  • only 15% felt their organisation fully enables them to execute key goals

(The Harris Poll)

Analogy:

If this was equated to a football team, only 4 of the 11 would know which goal was theirs and of those only 2 of them would care.

Reality Check:

Research shows, time and again, that teams who are clearly focused on their goals, motivated to achieve and skilfully led are the most successful. The skills in leading a team are some of the most powerful tools available to individuals and organisations.

So:

  • Is there clarity of direction at the top but a lack of action and delivery at team level?
  • Have the challenges facing your team leaders hit the cutural barriers of "the way we do things around here"?
  • Do you have new team leaders you want to develop?
  • Are you a team member or team leader with responsibility for the day-to-day achievement of your team?
  • Would a nationally recognised certificate in team leading skills help demonstrate your capabilities?

If any of these scenarios sound familiar, or you have an environment with some similar characteristics, Mercia's Introductory Certificate in Team Leading Workshop is for you.

Course Content:

  • A short induction
  • The role of the Team Leader
  • Dealing with conflict
  • Organising the Team's resources
  • Effective communications
  • Motivating the team
  • Risk assessment of the Team's work environment

Participants will also receive personal coaching during the workshop

Assessment:

At the end of the workshop, participants will complete a short Knowledge Assessment to demonstrate their achievement of the learning outcomes in the six modules and how this will be applied in their workplace.

Course Style:

The emphasis throughout the course will be on learning from experience. Participants will consider and share past experiences, have new learning experiences in the workshop and plan for future learning in their workplace. The workshop will therefore be active and participate. The tutors will help people learn and not teach them. It will be an enjoyable and rewarding experience.

"I have recently attended the Product Design with Plastics course at PTL, which was of an exceptional standard. As a Industrial Designer I felt the course was highly intensive, covering a broad topic area including polymer selection, design for manufacture and mould design. The training staff were both friendly and knowledgeable" Gethin Roberts - The National Centre for Product Design & Development Research (PDR)
